Apple's making some moves to integrate AI assistants into their upcoming iOS 18 release. They've realized the growing importance of generative AI and want a piece of that action.

Elon Musk's AI startup xAI just landed a massive $6 billion funding round, valuing the company at a staggering $24 billion post-money. The investors fueling this raise include heavyweight VCs:

Study Finds That 52 Percent of ChatGPT Answers to Programming Questions Are Wrong

Researchers at Purdue just dropped a study about ChatGPT's coding skills. They analyzed 517 programming questions from Stack Overflow and found that 52% of ChatGPT's answers were flat-out wrong.

Also 77% of ChatGPT's responses were way more wordy than human answers, and 78% were just straight-up inconsistent compared to what a real person would say. The researchers also did a language analysis on 2,000 random ChatGPT answers and found they were super formal and analytical.

When the researchers asked 12 programmers for their take, 35% of them actually preferred ChatGPT's answers. And they didn't even catch the AI's mistakes 39% of the time. Apparently, ChatGPT's polite phrasing and comprehensive nature made the programmers let their guard down and overlook those inaccuracies.
